Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: Hot Toddy

The idea of a Jekyll and Hyde cocktails was born in the summer of 2014 when my friend Shea and I thought it was a fantastic idea to create the Yarrgarita, which will be in a future piece. It was an amazingly boozy idea, and one that remained dormant until this year. I’ve always liked the idea of experimenting with both food and drink, but it’s not particularly fun if I keep the recipes to myself. So, here’s the first installment!

Tonight we have a little Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. On the right you have a traditional Hot Toddy, the doctor, made with High West Double Rye. On the left you what I’m calling Toddy Caliente, the mister, made with Patron silver. Both are perfect on a cold night and simple to make.

Dr. Jekyll: Hot Toddy

Ingredients-

1 tbsp of honey
2 oz whiskey
Juice from a lemon
8 oz of tea
Lemon slice for garnish

Directions – Boil water and steep a tea of your choice. While waiting for the tea mix the honey, whiskey, and lemon juice. Putting these in first will allow easier mixing. Pour tea in and stir, adding lemon to garnish.
